With more than 30 years of development and management experience in the hospitality industry, Sam entered into custom home building in 2005 with a full understanding of excellence in both construction and customer service. Having learned from managing many large projects, Sam brings along a proven set of uncompromising principles and experience. Sam guarantees that home owners will receive the highest quality craftsmanship and genuine personal attention throughout the life of their project. A native South Carolinian, Sam graduated from the College Charleston with a degree in business administration.

As a graduate of the University of Florida's Rinker School of Building Construction, the nation's oldest and most prestigious construction science program, Jeff co-founded Sea Island Builders with Sam Fowler in 2004. Since Sea Island Builders inception, Jeff has managed numerous custom new construction projects and large scale renovations for the firm. Jeff still manages projects for the company but also helps develop the processes and development of the company's newer managers and superintendents. Jeff takes particular interest in environmentally friendly construction and design. Jeff is married to his wife Blair and is the proud father of two children, daughter Gracie and son Buck Mathis.

Jason graduated from Clemson University with a degree in civil engineering. As part of the Fowler family, he cut his teeth on the same principle of providing unrivaled client services that have guided the family for years. He grew up building boats and woodworking with his grandpa as his mentor. These lessons from the "good-ol'days" are reflected in Sea Island Builders’ quality of craftsmanship which transcends most standards. Jason enjoys researching the latest trends in materials and construction and strives for continual improvement. Jason resides with his wife, Lauren, and little boy, Gray, in Mount Pleasant.

Anita earned her Architecture Design degree from Clemson University. Fresh out of college, she worked at DP3 Architects in Greenville, SC before deciding to pursue her graduate degree from Virginia Tech. Anita attended Virginia Tech's prestigious Washington-Alexandria Architecture Consortium (WAAC), which is an urban architecture design program. She resided in Georgetown where she worked for the famous Hugh Newell Jacobsen. Anita founded Ink Architecture and then eventually found a home with Sea Island Builders. Anita's professional portfolio contains award-winning projects across the world, from Aspen, CO to Paris, France, and most recently on the Isle of Palms, SC. Anita’s design and architectural experience and knowledge make her a great fit to deliver stunning custom homes and exceed client expectations.

James graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Architecture. After college he moved to Charleston where be began his career with Cobb Architects for 8 years before beginning his custom home building company which he ran for 10 years. James is very experienced with design, budgeting, scheduling, and in working with clients to aid them through decision-making during the pre-Construction Phase and working directly with clients to build their dream home. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids at their Mt. Pleasant home.

Joe has lived in the Charleston area since 1970. For the past 40 years, he has worked in a variety of roles within the custom residential construction field. Prior to joining the Sea Island Builders team, he held positions with several prestigious construction firms around the Charleston area. Joe began as a subcontractor with Sea Island Builders but quickly proved himself and soon joined the team full time. Joe carries an SC Residential Builders License and over 45 years of experience to go with it. He enjoys spending his down time with family, friends and fishing on our local lakes and rivers.

Rich Baker has been an integral part of Sea Island Builders’ team since 2015. Originally from the Midwest, he is a graduate of Iowa State University. Rich has enjoyed 30 years in retail operations and management; however, his passions and hobbies have always centered around construction. Rich brings great experience and a tremendous passion for superb customer service to every project. Rich is currently preparing to obtain his South Carolina Residential Home Builder’s license. In the meantime, he continues to take a hands-on approach to projects and provide excellent customer service to projects and clients.

Nicole Barley is the Accountant and Office Manager at Sea Island Builders. Born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, SC, Nicole attended the College of Charleston where she earned a graduate degree in Accounting. Nicole has grown up in the construction business; her father owns a construction company and many of her family members worked there as well. Nicole is studying to become a CPA. In her free time Nicole enjoys being on the water with friends and family, and spending time with her new pup Tater.

Marcus was born and raised here in the Lowcountry of Charleston, SC. Growing up, Marcus worked throughout the Lowcountry for his father’s construction company and has always had interest in high end custom home building. In 2017, he graduated from The Citadel with a degree in Civil Engineering. Shortly after, Marcus joined the Army and served four years as an Engineer Officer in Washington State. Marcus recently moved back home with his wife, Kristen. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family as well as playing ice hockey.

Carson’s experience in the construction industry started in 2014. After graduating from the Virginia Military Institute, he began working for a builder in Boulder, Colorado, remodeling and renovating homes. He narrowed his focus to finish carpentry and woodworking when he moved to Charleston in 2018. Throughout his experience, he has learned to carry out jobs efficiently, manage crews effectively, and deliver high-quality craftsmanship. Outside of building, Carson enjoys spending time with his friends, family, and dogs at his home on James Island.
